Lyrics
Fear not, little flock, He guards you Fear not, little flock, He saves you His disciples would leave Him But peace He spoke to them Take heart, for the world’s overcome So fear not Fear not
Fear not, little flock, He sees you Fear not, little flock, He’ll keep you Though the evil one’s seeking The Father is keeping And there’s not a soul He has lost So fear not Fear not
Fear not, little flock, He’s ruling Fear not, little flock, He’s reigning And your name is inscribed in The Lamb’s book of life, and The Father gave you to the Son So fear not Fear not
Song story
I was incredibly touched by Luke 12:32, which caused me to write this song. It says, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” These caring words of Jesus floored me.
It’s so easy to forget aspects of our Lord. Some are easier than others to remember. First of all, his care is so beautifully shown in telling his little flock to fear not. This is not just a group of people he’s decided to carry around with him. He’s not there to put on a show. Instead, this is his little flock that he’s tenderly shepherding.
And to his little flock he says that it is their Father’s, he uses the word “your”, good pleasure to give them the Kingdom. Not just his Father, but the Father of his flock. The Father is not reluctantly giving his kingdom to them, it’s his good pleasure. He is pleased to give his kingdom to us! The love displayed in this verse inspired me to write these words.
The above inspired the first verse and I attempted to list out some of the verse’s implications in the verses that followed. He will shepherd his little flock till the end and we’ll be with him forever.
