Lyrics
I’ll cast my cares on Jesus Christ For Satan roars around me I must resist him, firm in faith His will is to devour me It will not always be this way This suffering in every place Till we exalt Him on that day I’ll cast my cares on Jesus
[Key change]
I’ll cast my cares on Jesus Christ The Father will restore me The God of grace has called His saints To His eternal glory It will forever be this way Jesus will always rule and reign Till He returns I’ll watch and pray I’ll cast my cares on Jesus
It will forever be this way Jesus will always rule and reign Till He returns I’ll watch and pray I’ll cast my cares on Jesus I’ll cast my cares on Jesus
Song story
This song is for the one who struggles with anxiety. So it’s probably for everyone. It was written during a time when I’d heard a teaching on Isaiah 50:7.
But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.
If my Lord Jesus set his face like flint to accomplish all that the Father had for him, his disciples should follow him. Those are the kind of thoughts I was thinking. And how can we do that? Well, we can cast our cares on our caring God. This enables us, through the Spirit of God, to fearlessly set our face like flint towards the Kingdom of God and his righteousness.
The other lyrics are very heavily based on 1 Peter 5:6-11. The troubles of Satan are acknowledged, but our future, bought by Christ, is proclaimed. It won’t always be, as it currently is, with suffering and sin and death. We’re going to be with Jesus and under his reign forever. Until then, let’s watch and pray and cast our cares on Jesus.
